Blog of the Grateful Bear

ramblings of a freelance panentheist {"all things are in God, and God is in all things"} . . . musings on Emergent spirituality, powerlifting, LGBTQueer issues, contemplative prayer, mysticism, cats, music, healing, and more. I like my coffee and my existentialism dark-roasted.

Rest In Peace: Jean Baudrillard

The French sociologist and philosopher Jean Baudrillard has passed away. Much of the media coverage about his death has focused on his influence on The Matrix movies. But my friend and fellow blogger Heidi has posted a very moving and personal remembrance of her own experiences with Jean Baudrillard. She has also generously given us a host of links to follow to find out more about this incredible thinker. Check out her post dated March 7:

My deepest sympathies are with Heidi and her husband as they mourn the loss of their friend.

I'm overwhelmed by your kindness. Thanks muchly, dear friend.

One comment on the photo: I have this kind of blurred face in almost every photograph taken by my husband. It's a bizarre sort of talent of his, which he insists has everything to do with my restless spirit and nothing to do with his skills as a photographer.

Well, I must say after reading from Heidi's site about Jean and reading from his works, this gentleman ran very deep, yet lovingly. I must spend some more time digesting his writings, for there is a resonance in some of what he points to. Very interesting.

Thanks for the post, D. Thanks Heidi.
